Simikot airport is at an elevation of 9400 ft and about
38 minutes of flight from Nepalgunj and it is the western
most airstrip in Nepal. The Karnali river flows all
the way from simikot to the terai region of Nepalgunj.
High mountain lives, green river valley, sheep and yaks
heard, snow-caped mountains, this is really where one
can view nature at its purest form.
Pilgrims from Nepal trek from Simikot through the simikot
– Hilsa routes over the Himalayan region to cross
over to Kailash and Mansarovar. Access to Tibet from
Simikot is the shortest and the most practical for travelers
in every aspect from acclimatization to cultural endowment.
