Lukla is a town in the Khumbu region of eastern Nepal where most people visiting the Himalayas near Mount Everest start their journey. Lukla, at 2,860 meters (9380 Ft.) and has a STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) airport where most people begin their adventure in the Everest region. Lukla is the most popular tourist destination in Nepal. Lukla in the local language means place with many goats and Sheep.

Lukla lies in the heart of the Everest trekking region and is just 25 minutes away from Kathmandu by flight on the Dornier-228. Lukla is not only the gateway to Everest but also to the Sagarmatha National Park and also the starting point to other famous Himalayan Peaks. The moment you land up in Lukla, you can feel the Everest nostalgia in the air as you see hundreds of tourist following the trekking route to scale Mt.
